About Me.
Dr. James Y. Wang is the Founder and CEO of Metropolis Dermatology, a multi-clinic medical and cosmetic dermatology group in California - DTLA, Brentwood LA, Pasadena, Costa Mesa, and San Jose.

Metropolis Dermatology is built on the premise of building great teams of people to take care of patients, from the staff members to the leadership teams, to the dermatologists and specialists who provide the care. The clinics are meant to be unlike any other experience people usually have with healthcare. From the clinic design and views to the snacks and easy online booking system, the entire company is built around the patient experience.
Dr. Wang was born in Taipei and raised in Rochester, New York. He attended college at Washington University in St. Louis, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in biology. He earned his MD/MBA joint degree from the Harvard Medical and Business Schools.
From Boston, he moved to Southern California to complete his medical internship and dermatology residency at UCLA. His interest in the microscopic diagnosis of skin conditions ultimately led him to complete a clinical fellowship in dermatopathology at the renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell/NY-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Wang enjoys good food, in-depth conversations on just about any topic, and talking to people with a good sense of humor. In addition to English, he speaks Mandarin Chinese.
